Charity Shop Exchange is a UK website for the COVID-19 crisis that connects people in isolation with charity shops (second-hand shops) across the country. It allows people to get books and DVDs in their favourite genres delivered to their door, sourced from their favourite charity shops.
Not only does this give people in isolation a sense of connection, it enables charity shops to continue to operate and raise funds, even while the shops themselves are closed to the public.
The website is a winner of CODEVID-19, a worldwide hackathon to build useful websites and apps that help people through the COVID-19 pandemic.
I worked with an international team of designers and developers to build the site using React and Tailwind CSS. We collaborated remotely using GitHub, Slack and Zoom and the main part of the site was built in about a week.
The site is currently a work in progress, due for launch in April/May 2020.
