I have mentioned some of the best hosting providers in the market. And you can choose the best one by comparing the price range and services offered.

* BlueHost
* HostGator
* JustHost
* InMotion
* eHost
* HostMonster

Re: mod_rewrite Tutorial for Absolute Beginners http://www.elated.com/forums/topic/4848/#post26401 From: chrishirst

First off, this
<a href="?page=contact">Contact</a>

Is a self-referential URL, and will always point to the URL the browser is currently on.

So if you re-write yoursite.tld/contact/, the self referencing link will become yoursite.tld/contact/?page=contact which will result in a 404 response

You need a '/' in the href to make the link root relative.

"... ... as i have tried to couple php with mod_rewrite"

What does that even mean?????

PHP and .htaccess directive are NOT connected in any way at all. .htaccess directives operate at the level of the physical folder structure and are complete before PHP even starts up.

Re: mod_rewrite Tutorial for Absolute Beginners http://www.elated.com/forums/topic/4848/#post26400 From: sjk lacoste

i created my website by looping my index.php file and doing so it allows me to hook all my webages via anchor link.
The method i used to link my age is as follows:
<a href="?page=contact">Contact</a>
and therefore this produce the output of index.php?page=contact but as i use mod_rewrite rule it only remove index.php, hence i get left with link for example: www.mysite.com/?page=contact.

My request now is how can i overcome this kind of problem am currently facing as i have tried to couple php with mod_rewrite to solve this but didnt get any solution.

I am sorry for that actually i didnt get the question properly .But when I have launched this code using bootstrap the dropdown was created with the navigation .
thus you can try for the bootstrap function in <ul> tag.

Ermm?? No ... ...

That markup would create a "option selector" for a form element not a navigation menu.

Hi,
Using just <ul> and <li> tag doesnt create the dropdown menu.You need to use <select> tag followed by <option>
to create drop down menu.

Hi,
You can Reset all Access.
Once you identify a hack, one of the first steps you will want to do is lock things down so that you can minimize any additional changes. The first place to start is with your users. You can do this by forcing a global password reset for all users, especially administrators.

Simon & Matt,

This site has served for almost two decades to web community. Now, if a reputed site like elated.com goes down, then that will be a negative signal to other web starters.

One thought. Google explicitly says that mobile-friendliness has direct effect in their search result listing.

So, don't just give up. Please try to make elated mobile friendly. Hope this will bring the old readers again.

Best of luck & Regards,

A. Roy

What input boxes are you referring to?

"However it is not fully complete,"

Maybe not, but it can't cover absolutely everything because 'we' do not know what it is you are using to set permissions.

But I shall hazard a guess.

Usually and assuming you are trying this on a LINUX server, when a username is created for a hosting control panel a 'group' will be created with the same name. So if your control panel login name is 'bobajob' your userID and groupID should be 'bobajob' (minus the quotes)

A much better strategy is get more traffic that does NOT come from search engines.

Search traffic is random, highly variable, unreliable and could disappear overnight. You are much better with real traffic that you can control.

Hi holdportals.
VPS hosting is similar to that of VMware or Virtual Box. These programs allow you to run several virtualized operating systems on one machine. For example, your desktop may be running Windows 7, but you can also run other operating systems such as Windows XP or Linux without needing to restart your computer.
Good Luck.

When you need specific help, you have to be specific with the problem. When you want that kind of help that is not free generally, you need to tell us what you did.
Perhaps, when it is simple and we see that you can do it, you can get free help.

I am always confused when people ask that question. I don't know if they are talking about being indexed and ranked by Google on search results or get the PR metrics from Google. CentOS 5 is very old and is not used by many commercial ISPs any longer,

CentOS 6 is pretty much the most common one you will find.

CentOS 7 is the latest release and is steadily being taken up, however there are a lot of changes from R6 that makes it a very different 'animal'

If you want to be in pace with the mainstream, Apache is the one to learn. but LiteSpeed is worth learning for 'future-proofing'.

For webmin, the best resource is their website. http://www.webmin.com/

Re: How to learn VPS hosting? http://www.elated.com/forums/topic/5976/#post25224 From: chrishirst

Okay so you want to run Wordpress.

You need Apache, MySQL, PHP, at least. usually known as LAMP

As you are not familiar with Linux configuration and yum installations, start of with webmin and use that to install and configure the daemons and services you want.

I do suggest that if you are going to install a SMTP server (Exim, Postfix, etc) you block port 25 at your router firewall/NAT mappings so your external IP does not inadvertently become an 'open relay' and gets used by spammers to send thousands of messages through.

Also, CentOS and Fedora are different stages of essentially the same thing, development releases of RedHat Linux

Fedora is the "bleeding edge" distro where new features are tested and debugged. so it can be buggy and/or unstable

RedHat is the next level up stable but may have some 'bugs'

CentOS (Community enterprise Operating System) is the more stable release where features have been tested and is generally 'bug' free.
Top of the food chain is RHEL (RedHat Enterprise Linux) the commercial distro, where everything has been tested to destruction prior to getting this far.

Once you have webmin loaded you will have at least default .conf files to refer to, and rather than trying to get to grips with everything at once, you should learn the basics of each part of the LAMP set up, starting with Apache (http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/misc/tutorials.html) and as you progress through you will be learning about Linux as well.

Okay, is this going to be a Linux VM or Windows and what do you already know about either operating system and not just the 'clicky pointy' stuff.
With a VM you do not have a all singing all dancing GUI to play with.

Really the best way of learning is to actually get in there and do it, set up another machine and install whatever OS you intend to use on the server, that way you can 'play' with things and not 'break' the production machine.
