Not overly technical (hence use of templates!). When I try to run the Getiton template, it has once worked in my browser. However, most of the time it is bringing up a Syntax error (Line 7, Char 1)on page load then runtime errors (object expected) in the menu script on index.html (lines 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 27 - all Character 1).

The behaviour is sporadic, it sometimes loads fine and then on mouseover no pictures appeear in the boxes (no red crosses either).

I am using IE7 and Coffee Cup HTML editor, although I hasten to add that I have not modified anything from the original download yet.

On a more general note, is it a good idea to use sites with Javascript these days as certainly IE seems to pop up yellow security bars in the browser which may cause potential customers concern?

Any pointers appreciated. Thanks

Hi Coastcard

I checked getiton in both IE6 and IE7, and for me it works fine with no JavaScript errors. What happens when you view the original in your browser?

JavaScript is no problem to use, provided it doesn't trigger IE's (or other browsers') security warnings. Which, if the JavaScript is valid and not trying to do anything naughty, it shouldn't.

Thanks Matt,

Yup, no problem with original.

Done a bit more investigating and reloaded original templates from zip file. I can only assume that my HTML editor (Coffee Cup) is corrupting the files somehow, as they look less jumbled in notepad.

As a comparative newbie, I thought that this editor would be a good start, but it seems to be less capable than Frontpage - should have gone for something more up to date!

Thanks for your help and back to the drawing board!

Cheers.

Hmm, it does sound like it might be a CoffeeCup issue. It wouldn't be the first time an HTML editor has mangled code!

Anyway, feel free to post back here if you have any more problems/questions with the PageKit.

Cheers,
Matt
