Creating a dropdown menu in Wordpress

Hi there

I'm having a nightmare trying to figure out how to edit the CSS for dropdown menu here: http://www.passionwhisperer.co.uk/hot-shop-free/

As you can see, there are two main issues:

1. I need the whole area of 'test' to be clickable, rather than the little black arrow (which is a background image).

2. I need to change the background colour of the dropdown menu.

3. Once clicked, the dropdown menu doesn't go away when you move to another page - I need to change that too!

I'm familiar with HTML and some CSS but this has me truly stuck so any replies would be most welcome!
