I have an allocation booking system attached to dates.

There is a table with the list of items to be allocated in this case each week

As allocations are made these items are no longer available so I want to be able to list the available items to fill up the allocation.

I draw on three tables (people, places & dates) using primary/foreign keys to fill my "events" table which is a fourth.

If I can pull those committed from the events table from the total list there will be those left available which is what I need to show for the planner.

In the end this is about my brothers church, planning of services and is non-commercial.

I would like to do the ethical thing and help.

All suggestions appreciated and of course more detail can be supplied.

if you can extract the 'allocated' records, just invert the query to pull the unallocated ones.

Thanks for the suggestion. That sounds simple enough. The query has the four tables. Will try.

I succeeded finally by using a NOT IN (subquery)

Enjoy the fish

Peter
