What are your standards for the width of your website nowadays? 960 px or more?

I stick to ~980 px for fixed width layouts as there are more 1024x768 screen displays around than there ever was in pre XP days.

I'm increasingly moving to 1140px or similar, but only when I'm using a fluid, responsive grid. The 1140 grid system is a good place to start:
