I promised Matt to share my experience of promoting my site and product at Yahoo Answer, sorry for the delay and now here it comes.

Yahoo Answer is an interactive communication platform which allows people to ask or anwser question. Since it has some potentials of being another battle field for online marketing, people (like me yea..) take part in it one after another.

It will be a big story if I write all things about online marketing at Yahoo answer in one thread so I decide to note down some key points.

1. The starting point is, help people.
Make sure you are doing good to the people asking questions. By posting helpful and positive suggestion and answer, people will trust what you say. Then consider how to introduce your website and product to them. The naked promotion never help others but drive your account evil.

2. Subscribe the topic, check them daily
You can key in the keywords related to your product/service and subscribe to the new topics. Google Reader will be a good assistant to help you. In this way, you can save time on searching. I spend about half a hour everyday on replying all kinds of questions related to my business. And that's OK.

3. Be active but do no evil
Sometimes the requester forget to give a score/choose the best anwser for his/her question, leaving the thread a tiebreaker. It's the time for you to vote for yourself. Don't feel shame about it, because you are sending the right infomation to people. And some of them can get benefit from your answer (Remember the first tip). It's true, I get order in that way.

4. Be on the alert for baleful attack
You help people at Yahoo Answer, get online business opportunities, and do others. Don't believe in that everyone is warmhearted and kind like you. Here is my story. Two weeks ago I logined Yahoo Answer and found my account was suspended. It occurred to me that it was a systematic attempt to ruin my account, so I wrote a complaint letter to the admin asking for unfrozening my account and 2 days later I received the apology letter. So here is one advice for you: don't public any personal info to others at Yahoo answer.

Well, that's maybe the first part of my personal experience of online marketing at Yahoo Answer. I might add some more some time.

Enjoy it and hope it helps.

Regards,
Adward

Hi Adward,

Thanks for the great tips on using Yahoo! Answers as a promotion tool. I particularly like tip #2 for finding questions to answer in your topic area.

It sounds like the rule for promoting yourself on these kinds of sites is similar to social networking sites and forums: Make sure you give at least as much as you take, and build a good reputation for yourself.

Thanks again Adward. Looking forward to hearing more of your promotion tips and experiences!

Matt
