It's little bit like some personal experience when I joined online marketing, and these are also what I did at very begining. I hope it can make a little help for anyone get ready to enter this field. I took part in all the ways and they worked more or less for me. These five tips are mainly written for newbies who are just starting their online marketing businesses, so pls do not look down or complain about them.

1. Video Presentation: One of easiest ways to promote your website is to do a video of what you want to promote with the link your website link. Post your videos on YouTube, Google video or 5min. Try to make your first brief introduction, a how-to tutorial or a product review. The topic can be started with anything popular, funny or impressive. If you've never done it before, try those simple yet powerful screen recorders. Many of them allows you to edit video and add visual effects to your video.

2. Write an Article: Write articles about what you are promoting and post them on article directories. Pay attention to taking the advantage of author's resource box at the end of the article. It allows you to make a self-introduction and add reference information to the article. As your article content is positive and helpful, many reader would like to click the link in your resource box which can bring them to your site. Here is the list of Top 50 Article Directories By Traffic and PR.

3. Social Bookmarking: Besides article directories, you can submit your article to social bookmarking sites. The only thing you should do is to submit the URL of your article and wait for Google bot to collect the content. Prepare a huge list of social bookmarking submit sites, but you don't have to submit to all of them at one time. The better way is, sort your resource by groups and finish your submission in one week. In wiki here is also a list of Social Bookmarking Site.

4. Google Discussions: This is free and also drives highly targeted traffic to your website. You can join the Google group and find the certain target people which interest on your website or product. It's little bit like another form of forum which offers wider range of topics and discussions. Start your schedule and introduce your site / products to them. Yahoo answer is also a good place to answer (rather than discuss) qusetion. It's full of business opportunities but you need to think about more smart idea to go through it.

5. Twitter: Twitter is another great platform for online marketing. The key is how to make you a popular person and build as many followers as possible so that once you speak out, there will be large groups of people receiving your message and twittering to their friends, indicating a substantial traffic to your website.

All above are the simple ways to get website traffic for free. You can choose some of them which are available to you or make attempts one by one on your online marketing business. Nevertheless, you should update your topics regularly and post new things for a long period in order to make an achieved result.

Hi Adward,

Thanks for posting here at the ELATED forums - it's great to get new people on board.

However, we prefer it if content posted to the forums is the voice of the individual, rather than content taken from elsewhere on the web. We've noticed an article at Goarticles.com that has a striking similarity to your post:

http://www.goarticles.com/cgi-bin/showa.cgi?C=2632151

While it's accepted that part of the reason for posting to forums is sometimes to build traffic to the poster's site, we do ask that users of the forums write their own posts. In turn this will result in the trust and acceptance that will truly help build your traffic.

Hi Adward,

Sorry, I didn't realise that was your article too (the author name was "Jason" so it's hard to tell!). All the same, we do prefer original content on the forums. We'd love you to post some more threads and hear your opinions.

Some good points in your article BTW, especially on article marketing and social bookmarking. Social bookmarking sites like StumbleUpon and Reddit can work well, but I find it's good to post lots of links to other sites as well as your own in order to get a good reputation.

Here are some more ideas on this topic:

Oh sorry for the confusion of Adward and Jason because both of them are my pen names.

In fact these five tips are basically for beginners who take part in the online video marketing. But they are also good tips for everyone as always.

Thanks for your article links and I'd like to make some other posts about Yahoo Answer since I'd just experienced an adventure at it.
