Hi all,

I'm curious what others may think about a site I've recently "refreshed" for a client.

This site was transitioned from tables, to XHTML and CSS. It's got a lot of stuff you can't see, for instance, under the link "Recent Findings" the owner has complete dynamic control of photos to show, reorder, upload, etc.

The owner also has a built in database for online scheduling, etc....but really I'm just listing this site to see if people think it's visually appealing.

Thanks - let me know your thoughts....

Hi there,

Thanks for posing the site! I think it'll do the job, but I also think there are things about it that could be better, for example:

- Three-tier nav is a bit confusing - consolidation?

- The header is very deep - maybe a cut-down version on sub-pages so users have to scroll less?

- It's visually a little busy for my tastes, lots of Shouty Italicised text!. Maybe a bit more focus?

Simon - thanks for the reply....

The 3 tier nav was requested by the client. Honestly, I don't find it confusing, mainly because it's not a pop up menu - each link is a single link - no expanding menu's with more choices, etc...

I can agree with you on the deep header on the secondary pages...

Visually "busy" - again, this is what the client wanted. We were going for more visuals and images because the site was perhaps lacking that before the revision.

Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks for posting. I agree with Simon's points, although I can see that your nav links will probably work well for SEO, and that the "shouty text" makes for good calls to action.

Maybe a bit more vertical padding around the bottom row of links (blue, uppercase) would make the links more readable? Also is there a reason why that third row is styled differently to the other two - are they the main links that you want people to click?

The photo of the owners is nicely done, and adds a level of trust to the site which should help with sales.

Cheers,
Matt

I have to say that I like huge header, but this one is too high.

If you can make it shorter on the high it will be better.

This is because the scrolling think.

But other than that it is good.

Also the blue background can be changed to a wood texture, but that's my opinions and my likes.

Overall is good
