AdSense local currency reports - Do Not Want!

I see google are switching all non-US AdSense publishers over to their local currencies. So I, as an Aussie publisher, will see all my reports in Australian dollars from now on, instead of US dollars. This is going to be a *compulsory* switch.

This is stupid. I run a blog, and pretty much all my traffic is US-based, as are my advertisers. USD is the currency I use to compare things like CPM and CPC to see how AdSense fares against my other revenue streams (all in USD).

Once my report is in AUD I will no longer know if any fluctuations are caused by my AdSense tweaking or advertiser spend, or simply down to USD-AUD exchange rate fluctuations.

Many publishers are angry about this - see the comments below:

...and yet google seems to be ploughing on regardless.

Anyone else here think this is a stupid idea??

Yes - me too! We have the same issue (but with GBP instead of AUD). I can understand why local currency reporting is great for many people, but there are also many folks like us who basically work in USD all the time. It will be a major headache having to convert between currencies to compare.

I get the feeling this is all tied in with making Google Ireland the main centre for dealing with non-US publishers - they want you to sign a new contract and everything. I still don't see why we can't have a choice of currencies for the reports though.

And what will happen to AdSense data within Google Analytics? Will that stay in USD, or will it change to GBP too?

The mind boggles...

Google has just forced me to make the change - I expect they've done the same to you too. It's now mandatory to see your reports in your local currency, whether you want to or not.

It looks horrible - whereas the reports used to show $123.45, they now show UKĀ£123.45 (or whatever). I'm so confused trying to compare my CPM in UK pounds with all my other CPMs and ad revenue, which are in USD. What a nightmare!

I guess I'll just have to have a currency converter page permanently open...
