Ok, ok, I give in about the knobend forum.

The thing is this: why do ALL ftp tutorials stop at uploading an index.html?
When I say all, I'm also referring to Ipswitch and even FTP Planet(where I've been making a nuisance of myself:O)).
According to Keith at FTP Planet, non appearing graphics is one of THE most common discussions in their newbie forums.
Whilst I'm aware of html issues now, there is this big void regarding information on making directories in the right hand pane other than index,.i.e, on my hard drive, when I make an html with images, it also makes a folder: whatever_files. So, do I make a separate folder in the right hand pane named whatever_files and copy over the contents. There is just no information>O(
I've saved all the different ideas that were pointed at me at FTP Planet...just in case you can find the time to do the tutorial...;O)
Anyway, Three lions and Jules Rimet to all,

You don't say what FTP program you are using, but the answer is yes, you have to make a directory on the remote site and have it named the same as the one you have your images in locally.

Further, if the server is running UNIX or some version of it, (which most of them are), you need to be aware that everything is case sensitive. In other words, the server will see a directory called IMAGES as being different from one called images or Images. The same holds true for filenames--mypic.jpg is different from MyPic.JPG or whatever.

Save yourself endless hours of headaches and heartaches by making yourself one inflexible rule: Let everything, without exception, be named in lower-case--your HTML documents, your images, your folders or directories. Never deviate from that rule and 90 percent of your file/path problems will never happen. The remainder will happen when you forget to upload something.

Thanks, SiteTutor,

Simon and Matt have been so kind to me over the years that I always hope I can give a little bit back. But I'm so busy with my incredibly hip and about to be successful company, Pixel Stationery, that I have to limit my time visiting other Websites.

(Simon: It's called guerilla Marketing.:) )

Hey Anne,

Who needs marketing when you have Guido and his politically correct, non inclusive henchpersons to look after ones interests;O)
Perhaps I should get a new pagekit with a more...er...Sicilian feel to it~:O)

(Anne cues up Godfather music...)

Yes, I threaten to send Guido out quite a bit. Never had to make good on it. I'd suggest you look into employment opportunities as a henchperson, though...

Anne
