Hello elated,
first i would like to congratulate you on your success and popularity. Your site is the best i have seen in its category but...
In the forums there is a lot of swearing and hatred so why dont you try to stop this by making it a strict rule(before signing up)?

Regards,

You can't always control what others do and say. I suggested an ignore button for the forums; Matt said they would consider it for the next release of Teemz. I just hope that is some time soon.

It is a forum. There is going to be fighting. It is inevitable. People are scum.

Fighting doesn't have to be inevitable by a long stretch. You can end it immediately simply by refusing to be lured into it. It doesn't make you any less of a person simply to ignore nasty remarks sent your way; in fact, your credibility goes up in the eyes of others when you do so. It is the hallmark of the adult as opposed to the emotional reaction of the child.

You can take things even a step further. See somebody else who's been squashed? Don't go out of your way to bring it up. But DO go out of your way to see if you can assist that person. Build people up. In this way the good messages will very quickly outnumber the bad, and everyone will get benefit from the interactions.

Fights go on because people can't bring themselves to say, "It's going to end right here, right now, with me. I'm too good to lower myself to respond in the same vein."

Yup, it's a problem, and getting worse. By and large personally I've tended to assume people will adopt a level of self-regulation, but I'm now starting to be more proactive.

Read the Notice to All in J&J for more on that.

Isn't there a "bad word" filter, like in the Snitz forum?
03-Nov-01 17:28
that would be an idea

I hate to say it because I want to be supportive in every way. But I think I'm like Pete: I wish there were a "twit filter" or ability to ignore specific individuals.

Anne
