One thing that your site lacks is a links page. Dont get me wron gthe site is great but it would be great if you added a links page I think.

Anyone else agree?

We used to have a links section on our old site, and found it took a lot of time and effort to keep it updated - adding new sites, checking for broken links, etc. Because we want to give our best to you the viewers, we had to weed out 90% of requests for links anyway, as they were not of a sufficiently high standard. In the end we decided it wasn't worth the effort required.

However, we are considering starting up a links section again, and would welcome suggestions on what you, the viewers, would like to see in it. Let's have 'em!

Cheers,
Matt

Maybe a trade section where people who visit you site links to you and you link to them, its been used on a lot of other sites and I think it would work well. There would also be a bigger selection of links available.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I guess the question is, would such a section benefit our viewers? Linking off to random sites that have nothing to do with web building might not be particularly helpful!

I'll have a think about the idea though.

Thanks again,
Matt

If they were split in different sections though they would be looking themseleves so they would know what to expect anyway!

Yes, I think that's probably how we'd do it if we did have a links section. It would probably have to be automated somehow too. Time to write myself a little CGI script I think...

i have a solution that will keep admin down to minimum on the links page. i have used this solution before and its great. it does take a bit of time programming though (i used asp).

let the users add thier own links/descriptions to the site (selecting which cat etc.). and say after 28 days, they get an email which notifies them that the link will be deleted in 48 hours if they dont update by clicking a link or logging on or whatever you decide. as you can see it leaves you free to just view all the postings and delete any sites that are spamming/rude etc.

as i said it takes a bit of time to set up but its worth it in the long run from an admin point of view.

i may of gone off on a tangent there but its just a suggestion

cheers

Thanks gregsta - that's a pretty good idea! I guess it would also encourage people to return to our site, which would be good.

about the links, instead of having to continuesly updating, how about a ffal instead. (free for all links) u know, so ppl can just type in information and it will keep getting larger and larger, but the thing is, some ppl just might enter a site that has nothing todo with your service or is just trying to get publically known. But still a good idea =p

Personally I don't consider a free-for-all links page to add anything useful to our site, so I can't really see us adding one.

We'll have a links section up in the next couple of weeks, all being well!
