Hi, thanks for posting. Truthfully, although the searching etc is fast and works nicely, the whole thing is desperately uninviting and unfriendly.

You basically need a new design, but there are a couple of things you could try to cheer it up a bit:

- Lose that colourscheme, and do the whole thing off white.

- Add some photos to the homepage

- A thumbnail image in the results page would be great.

I have launched a new website located here: http://www.helpmywebsite.org and was wondering if you could give me some feedback as to its worth and navigational structure. User friendly and if its informative.

Thanks in advance,

Thanks Simon for your review. Yes, we agree that our current homepage could be more appealing. We are currently in the process of developing a better landing page in conjunction to supporting more geographical regions.

We hope to change the color scheme once we have more time, or even allow users to customize it to their own liking.

We do create thumbnail images on our result page but currently only for paid listings. This is to entice users to pay for added services. However, we are open to changing this in the future.

On another note, I like how your logo states "You are in widescreen" if I resize the window to a greater resolution.

We will check out your articles on web design and your free images.

Thanks again

Hi,

If you have those design issues in hand then I think you'll be fine in the long run. From a user's perspective they'd like to see the thumbs, so I guess it's balancing act between user experience and commercial interests isn't it?

I'm glad someone noticed the "you are in widescreen" message. I wondered if anyone had noticed =)

Hi folks,

I am hoping maybe you are "Speechless" about my website or maybe just too busy at the moment. Was looking for any feedback good or bad. Also, was wondering if we could swap links...

Thanks,

Hi all,

Ken. This seems like good information, but the navigation is too generic I think. All the actual content/articles are linked to from the homepage, and you could do with a way to get to it from the main nav.

Don: All the info's there on the site which is good, but it's a bit overwhelming on the homepage, and you tend to lose the navigation on the subpages, necessitating a return to the homepage to go further, for which you're relying on the back button. That nav needs to be consistent across the site i think.

Hope that helps,

Simon

Then it's always a better idea TO START YOUR OWN THREAD rather than hijack someone elses thread.

Hi Jerry,

That's pretty good i think. Simple, easy to navigate etc.

A couple of technical things:

1) The menu's a bit shot in Safari on a mac. I'd suggest trying to track one down for testing. It's by no means unusable, so it's not a disaster.

2) How about making the logo a link to Home? It's pretty much standard practice and people expect it I think.

Hope that helps,

Simon

Hi Karen,

Could you please do me a favour and post this again as a new thread, please, rather than tacking it onto this one? It's getting confusing!

Cheers,

Simon

Hi there,

Thanks for posting. Do you think you could do me a big favour and post this in a new thread? It'll just get lost down here, and people will moan at you for hijacking this initial post!

Cheers,

Simon
