I would appreciate receiving critical comments on the design of http://etybagem.blogspot.com. I am a novice on CSS but understand HTML passably well (I think).
I have been trying to build a three column blogger template using percentages and the full page width, although I gather that percentages have problems depending on browser and screen width. Hence, I will be looking at amendign it as soon as I have the time by mixing fixed columns and percentage columns with padding and margins to hopefully stop wrapping. That is an area where I am defintely a novice, if I have even reached that stage!
I would like to hear what visitors to my site think of colours, font size, design, etc - particularly in different browsers. I use FF but have looked at it in IE6 and Opera.

Hi Noah,

That's pretty nice. You're right when you say that browsers tend to have issues with percentages - it's to do with the rounding in the maths.

You've got quite a big text size, so even at 1024x768, those headlines etc will begin to wrap. You could drop that font size a little on the non-central content maybe? That would also push the user to that main content first.

Thank you for the comment. Funnily enough on the font size I amended it to em (from px and pt - a mixture, which I gather is bad design) and made it bigger after receiving a caustic comment (not from this site) that the site was OK if I wanted peopel to go blind with the background colour and font size. Hence, I changed from a very light greeny-blue to white background and increased the font size. For the font I use 1.0em for most, with the title being 4.0em; links are 0.8em.

It is difficult (for me anyway) to figure out font size as I gather that an attraction of using em for font size is that it is resizeable by page viewers rather than being absolute. I have checked using Opera, FF, and IE6 on a 17" and 19" screen as well as a laptop and all looked reasonable. However, I'll try again to resize to a little bit smaller.

Thanks for the comments.

Hi Noah,

You're right, it is something that everyone will find something to moan about!

Your site looks GREAT! Who told you to change the background from the very light greeny-blue color? I think the greeny-blue color will look fantastic!

Thanks to all for the comments - I am not sure that the site looks 'GREAT', but I am happy with its development, at least as I am a novice when it comes to HTML, CSS, and designing.
Maybe I should think again about the light greeny blue background!
I hoped that you liked the content and the look.
