Hi, i have just finished my first website, hopefully it will boost a bit of business. I have put the gallery in javascript to stop people stealing my pics but as it is my first website not that clued up on the subject and i think the rollover images are taking too long to load. Would like to get this sorted or another gallery designed before i post the rest of my work. Let me know what you think would appreciate any help.

just to show that "protecting" your images with javascript is a totally useless exercise.

yes they are taking far too long to load basically every image is too large (in bytes) your navigation images are 20k-30k these should be no more than 6k. Add some compression to the images to keep the size down.

The images on your about us page 300K ????
anyone on dial-up would have left long before the images started to load.

Apart from that It's a nice clean looking site.

Thats impressive!! How did you do that?

Any tips on dropping the bite size without loosing size or quality?

depends on what graphics package you use.

All have a "save for web" option where you can apply compression to an image. With the navi buttons I set compression at 60% and reduced the home_1.jpg down to 1504 bytes from 25127 bytes with no noticeable difference. The same could be applied to the thumbnails. At 70x70 image quality isn't really a major concern.
For the main gallery images I compress a friends hobby photo gallery site by 25%-30% depending on the subject.
For a batch resizing tool take a look at IrfanView www.irfanview.com

How was it done? Anything in javascript is in the source code of the page.
