Would welcome your comments regarding the following web site.

http://www.mastermason.com/mtzion/

This site is intended to provide information about Freemasonry in general, and the Mt. Zion Lodge specifically.

I look forward to hearing your comments.

(Trying out the new forums for the first time this morning. They look great...)

I liked the rendering of the Masonic symbol into a white-on-white background. Very subtle and doesn't interfere with reading the text as is often the case.

I thought of two things:

1) Would you consider integrating the name of the lodge on the title page more closely with the emblem, so they present a more unified look? (Move the text in the title closer to the emblem.)Your headings on inside pages actually look stronger and clearer to me than the one on your front page.

2) You could experiment with aligning everything closer to the left-hand side, rather than centered on the screen. I always think that makes a stronger and better organized design than having things centered. (Like the pages here at Elated.)

Your members and visitors should have no trouble at all getting any information they require from your site. It's all right there, with links laid out, and no hazards to navigation that I could find.

Cheers,
Anne

I agree with Anne - nice site Don, well done! Navigation is simple and the site is clearly laid out. The restrained use of graphics makes for a fast-loading, uncluttered site.

You could maybe put some text next to the emblem on the sub-pages such as "home page" to make it clear that this is the link back to the home page. (Either embedded in the image or as HTML text next to the image.)

Best wishes,
Matt

Hi, Don.

I like the simplicity of your site, and the use of the background embossed emblem to carry the theme from page to page. I especially like your layout on liked pages (the "About" page is well-planned and has a "clean" look).

One suggestion I'd make is to change the alignment of your index page. As it is now, you have it centered horizontally, but up against the top margin vertically. My monitor size is about 1600 X 1200 pixels, so your table looks off-balance pushed up against the top, with so much background floating below the page content. With monitors getting bigger and bigger, it would be nice for us "cinema display" folks to have the valign set for "middle."

Overall, though, nice work!

John
