I have applied 2 effects, 1 filter and 1 style to a layer and saved the document. Later in the same session I wanted to undo these effects, filter and style of the layer, but I could not find a straightforward way of doing this. Finally I had to delete the layer and redo the whole work. Could someone help me please? Thanks.

Provided you haven't closed and reopened the document, you can step back through your changes with the History palette (choose Window > History).

You can turn off/delete layer styles and effects in the Layers palette by clicking the arrow to the right of the "fx" icon on the far right side of the layer to reveal the individual effects, then toggling the effects with the eye icons to the left of each effect. Or just drag the "fx" icon down to the trash icon to delete all layer effects.

Filters you're stuck with, unless you're using CS3 and have turned the layer into a Smart Object, in which case the filters are applied as Smart Filters and can be edited/deleted after the fact.

Hope that helps!
Matt
