How do I get an image to fill entire div in CSS?

Hello

Does anybody know how to get an image to fill the entire width and height of the div using CSS and without loosing image definition?

Here is my example.

do you want to;

Stretch the image to fit ? (it will distort)

set it as a repeating background?

Make it appear to fill the div without stretching it ?
