getting different imiges into the layers pallet

I'm having trouble getting different images into the layers pallet so I can edit them. Every time I open a new image the old images that were in the pallet disapear from the pallet or are not visable. Please excuse my ignorance I just received version 5 to use from my son and am trying to learn this great program. I am retired and dont have the funds to buy tutorials so I try to get information from the web. If there are any sights that you guys know, beside this one that can held me I would love that info. Again thanks for any help and again excuse my ignorance

Hi there,

The problem you're having is that the layers pallete is image-specific. In other words, if you have 2 image files open, whichever of those is highlighted will display the layers in that image.

To move one image's layer to another, simply drag and drop from the layers pallete onto the other image, or select all, then copy and paste into the new image.
