Hi All:

This is my first ever experience in trying to use downloaded web templates. I have successfully downloaded the "Abstract" template and have extracted it to its own folder. I would like to use it in my web authoring program (Web Express). That's where I'm stuck. Web Express has a very limited Help file that doesn't address this subject. My PC also has Front Page Express, which I could use in a pinch although I know nothing about it. I'm most comfortable working with WYSIWYG programs.

Having said all this, and not wishing to solicit a complete web -building course from busy folks, can anyone recommend some good information sources for absolute beginners?

At this point, I'm not at all interested in HTML coding (that may come later). I'm pretty good at seting up styles and page designs in Word and that ilk of program, so I'd like to find a web-design program that will let me do the same basic thing, using pre-designed templates. I'm not sure that Web Express is the right program for me.

This message probably sounds a bit confused because it reflects my current state of mind. My end goal is to create a personal website that promotes my freelance writing talents. I'm also interested in web publishing for a variety of personal and professional reasons.

Any help to get me started down the right path will be MOST appreciated!

Thanks for the great site!

Hi there,

Well, I know nothing about Web Express, but if it's WYSIWYG you're after, then get a copy of dreamweaver which is what we use mostly if we're not doing it by hand. Some people round here wouild say GoLive is good too =)

It's easiet in HTML though - you just hack out the text and put your own in in the files. Just open them up and try it - it'll be ok!
